my modem decided to lay down and while it struggled for a while, i had to call the sigecom people, who pronounced it dead. they said they would send out a technician monday or tuesday…gulp. i quite candidly told the feller that i could not last days without the internet and would go buy one—they can “hook it up” over the phone. i’ve been meaning to buy my own anyway, as i pay rent on the antique that just passed on. however, i wasn’t at all disappointed when a “technician” showed up this a.m. and brought me a shiney new modem and put me back online in time to catch up on this morning’s obituaries (nobody i know).
there’s not much going on around here except for a frenzy of rearranging around our new couch. we’ve been spending most of our time on the couch, testing it, working it. it’s a double recliner, beige suedecloth, soft and large. it’s been a bit like a magnet, drawing me to lay around watching Poirot, Nero Wolfe, family guy, preachers, various documentaries and stay one step ahead of an aggressively erasing tivo.
i have managed to put in a few hours for mastergardeners, catch up on the grayville scene with cuzn lana, bake some cookies, and of course, rearrange the furniture again.

Big Rain today. husband was already wet, so he trekked down to the River Wahoo to take some pix. get out the kayaks, kids!
i just bought my tickets to fly back to nyc at the end of march for emma’s 9-week birthday and am much excited. i decided to pay the extra to leave from e-ville and trade the money for the time. i can hardly wait…isn’t she growing quickly? around here we’re preparing for a big sleep-over with e and the twins, but i have my doubts they’ll actually stay all night. their mom is insistent regarding having them “in bed” by 9 pm and it made me stop and realize that my kids never had a bedtime, never took naps, ate tons of fast-food, and not only watched whatever they wanted to on tv, but had total access to all of our electronic equipment. how on earth did they survive? and how on earth did they ever thrive? of course, both of them are rather hairy…could that be from the happy meals?
i meant to go places, do things, but instead ended up moving furniture from one end of the house to the other…….this rearranging thing is in my dna. at any rate, i’m back with the darmstadt lutherans every evening, doing the lenten thing, and watching the oscars. okay, i only watched the first part of the oscars and fell in love with the dolly parton song, “travelin’ thru”. though it’s obvious dolly has had some serious suckin’ and tuckin’ done and i never really liked her voice, the song had some real triggers to my country/gospel roots (look at them boots). really, those shoes of hers were about a foot tall, her bells were bellish, and how white was that white? ya gotta give it to the gal…i’ve never heard so many lyrics missing the letter “g”: stumblin’, tumblin’,wondrin’ as i’m travelin’ thru. how ’bout bumblin’, humblin’, fumblin’, mumblin’…..travlin’ thru. more: ravlin’, …blabbrin’….help me…
