i took this picture from a bridge going over the waterfall to the gazebo.  the party house and the gazebo had full electricity and next to the party house is an outhouse.   very clever.  the garden is actually about 15 years old, though, so i have time to catch up.  it was way cooler than any they had on the mastergardeners tour.   

i quit watching general hospital several months ago when i discovered i could read the recaps here on the internets.  actually, in several different spots there are excellent bits as well as message boards and commentary.  i am appalled that so many people actually like the people that i can’t stand in port charles.  of course, that’s true in evansville, too. 

sister and i attended the races yesterday and we had a so-so day—but fun.  i had gone up to the lutheran school to meet the new principal before the trip to the track.  have i just been around lutherans so long that i can smell wisconsin and minnesota before they even open their mouths?  of course, the accent is almost canadian and that leaves no doubt of their roots.  when they talk about the U P (as in upper peninsula) i smile as if i have actually been north of chicago.  anyway, he seems like a nice guy. 

2 more weeks and i’ll be starting my new job.  i’m very excited and more than ready to get into the whole get-up-and-go-to-work routine.

since most of my readers were in attendance at sonnystone sometime last week, you understand why i have been neglecting my blogging.  

i can only describe how i feel with emma in cliche’ terms which don’t really convey the content of the emotion.  in other words, there are no words.  i can say that seeing her toddle around among the flowers and the garden, on the porches and the swing, tearing around the “circuit” in the house, stopping carefully at each small step, grinning, exploring and babbling is like a dream-come-true for me.  if you haven’t already, go check out the pictures on rightmoon’s site and you have some idea of how grand our visit together was.  not even puke could stop our non-stop enjoyment. 

of course, saturday i was exhausted.  we did some clean-up and catch-up yard and housework, but generally chilled.  i do love having the kids (mike and jess were here sun-tues, also) stay and don’t know what we’d do without sonnystone house.  it is a wonderful gathering place for family and friends.  each of the lovely people who visited added to the general atmosphere of love and happiness. 

i was afraid that sunday would be a bummer, sitting around looking at the flowers and seeing emma not-there, so we took a day-trip to land between the lakes in kentucky.  it’s about 1 1/2 hour drive and we had a beautiful day.  we did some antiquing, tooled around with the top down, and i got a great new hat.  it did the trick and now i’m ready to get back to “normal”.
