i’m the kid who

has this habit of dreaming

(sometimes gets me in trouble, too)

but the truth is

i could no more stop dreaming

than i could make them all come true. . . . . . .

i’m stuffed.  i fixed a roast, some mashed potatoes and green bean casserole for the kids and even though i didn’t overeat initially, i have continued to graze all day.  my bra was painfully tight over my stomach and as i stripped it off, i remembered i’d received a letter from the breast center yesterday with the expected okay result of my mammogram.  upon opening, however, i found they saw an “abnormality or change” on the exam and need to do follow-up evaluation.  this gripes my fat ass to the hilt:  they’re supposed to call you if there’s something wrong, not send you a letter.  they even say in the letter that they probably have called about it already, but noo-ooo, all i get is this stupid letter.   .  .   of course, that probably means they really didn’t see anything at all and just need to re-do some of the views due to poor quality.

we moved the mattress/boxsprings from the downstairs bedroom to the upstairs bedroom and will be buying a new one tomorrow (hopefully).  the upstairs is turning into a real guest suite that will entice my children to stay longer and i’ll have a better sleep experience as well.  that’s my main project for the week-end and i have to sleep upstairs until i get the new set.

hope everyone had a great day.  we have so much to be thankful for, but our loved ones are at the top of the list.

short week

Filed under: Uncategorized — TheBug @ 8:11 am

it’s hard to believe thanksgiving is next week!  it is nice to have a little breathing space between t-day and christmas, though.   this week at work has flown and i imagine next week will, too.

i know i didn’t mention much about my visit to nyc and that’s because most of my audience is well aware of how crazy i am about my grand-daughter.  we have so much fun together and no attraction in all of the big apple is as attractive to me as just playing with her.  and she is quite a little play pal:  we cooked, stirred and ate our fake food; sang songs with gusto; read books and danced.  it left me crying all day the day i got back and only now can i write about it without getting all weepy about it.

her parents are nice, too.

husband is camping sat-sun and i’m planning some power-shopping.  boy-child and wife will be in for the holiday and i’m still making plans for what else to do with the long week-end.  (that should keep you at the edge of your seat)

in 1993 i began to habitually travel to california to see my aunt bernie, partly because i loved her and wanted to see to her, but partly because i liked flying.  i really enjoyed the run through the airport to catch the big plane.  i always get a window seat.  and i thoroughly delighted in driving the california freeways in a rental car.  i can tell you that in 2003, when i made my last trip to bernie’s, i was really, thoroughly, through with that trip.  by that time, i had been bi-coastal for 5 years (don’t tell husband) and was flying a couple of times to cali, a couple of times to nyc each year.  i knew john wayne airport by heart, and was accustomed to standing on the taxi line at la guardia.  nowadays, it’s just the nyc crusade, but it’s lost its charm.  instead of spending time in the bars, i make a quick connect and rate my enjoyment by how long it took me to get my shoes and coat off, my liquids in a clear container, my i.d. and boarding pass in hand, and then the reverse.  so i was very happy to touch down at evv at 9:15 this a.m. and spend the day not traveling.

upcoming events

this afternoon i am switching over to a new cable, internet, phone provider.  this will save me about $40/month and i hope that it will go smoothly.  getting used to the different placement of channels will stretch my brain; allegedly they have faster internet service, so maybe i’ll lessen my frustration there.

i’m leaving tomorrow evening for nyc to spend the week-end with emma and her parents.  we have great tickets to see the 75th Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall on friday and we’ll usher in the 2007 holiday season.  i am so excited to be going—haven’t seen the little gal since july, you know.

casey and i are planning a thanksgiving getaway to brown county.  we’ve not been able to spend a lot of time together lately, both of us busy with activities that don’t involve the other.  when that happens we do try to take a day-trip or something to renew the couple-thing.  there is an inexpensive package at the brown county inn and it ought to be a nice time to catch our breath before the onslaught of advent/christmas.

i’ve got to get things ready for a sub to do my job and looked over the notes from the last nurse—i don’t do half the things she did!  i do see anywhere from 25-45 kids in addition to the 20 or so that i give meds  and manage to get it all done in about 4.5 to 4.75 hours–the last bits are donated time.  overall, i am still happy with it but glad for a break.  we have off veterans day, so i’ll be back in town that morning and rest up to tackle the “cold” (as in rhinitis) season that precedes the thanksgiving holiday.
