for noah’s birthday, i got him a transformer that turns from a motorcycle into spiderman –spidey is noah’s “theme”.  it was for 5+ and Noah just turned 4, but i was confident we/he could transform it.  not so easy, those rubik-cube toys.  anyway, we sort of kind of got it twisted around and back, but i sure hope his daddy is able to help him with the project.  (this is definitely a man thing)  hope the party goes well, ruganis!

we’re off for asheville this morning.  see you all real soon!

one of the many things i love about my home is being able to sit on my ever-spreading-butt at the computer and look out the door at the bunnies.   this one was playing “statue” with me for a while.  i think they have adhd with a touch of anxiety, though, so i seldom get them to hold still.

2 weeks (or less) left

i haven’t been doing much but take pictures, garden, eat, go to the races, and the occasional duties.  it’s been a great summer vacation so far and we’re planning to wrap it all up with a trip to asheville, nc.

i’ve taken so many pictures of flowers and butterflies, some goldfinch that are so camo’d that you can hardly see them among the flowers, the house, bunnies, porches, pools.  it’s so bad that when i walk outside the gardens start yelling, “cheese”.  that’s one reason we’re planning the mountain trip and hoping to get some un-foggy views, possibly a bear or two in the frame.

we’ll leave wednesday and be gone till sunday, seeing the biltmore house, blue ridge parkway and and the highest mountain peaks east of the mississippi.

in the meantime, my little great noah will have a birthday party which i won’t be able to attend.  no problem, though, if his mom will allow me to visit tomorrow to deliver my gift and some hugs.  more pictures, of course.  i also have a doctor appointment to follow up on the pelvic ultrasound which i enjoyed last week.  i still have an “innocent” cyst on my right ovary and we need to talk about getting the egg-makers removed.  so much to look forward to.

august 8 is my official first day back to a nurses meeting, pick up my supplies, and get my office ready.  i’ll probably go in a couple of days that week.  more pictures.

one thing at a time, though, and this week it’s noah and asheville.

golden hours

Filed under: Uncategorized — TheBug @ 8:26 pm

i’m sitting now in what melissa described as “golden light” — dawn or dusk, basically.  oh, it takes an uncloudy day, but it arrives every evening somewhere.  i’m thinking about the golden hours i just lived with my children, grandchildren, nieces, great-nieces and nephews, sister and almost-bro, and (don’t forget) husband.  i feel warm and golden.

we all need a time when we can gather together and remember the bond that family weaves so tightly.  the times we spend as young children with those who are called grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, or cousin are imprints that stay with us forever.  it provides a base, a foundation that keeps us connected with what is unchanging,  when everything else is changing.  it is golden time, precious and rare.

i am so grateful.
