the labor day extravaganza is about to kick off. since little mikey will turn 27 on 9/3, we’ll be celebrating his b-day in our usual style: going out to ellis park. the jose’ family will join the jr. and sr. caseys at the track saturday and we’d love for all our readers to meet us out there, too. give me a call or drop me a comment, or just show up! there are supposed to be ostrich and camel races, too, but i’m focusing on the horses myself. oh, ali, i think i know why you can’t comment–has to do with your old virus-laden identity. when the kids are here i’ll have them fix it. we’ll be having some sunday dinner, too, if that’s a better time to visit with us. just let me know.
it’s been rather hectic since i started back to school august 6. the pictures below were taken at the bluegrass festival over in henderson on the 9th and i never got around to actually posting about how much i enjoyed the morning we spent over there. lots of people brought their instruments and were jamming in the park, as well as the paid musicians who were excellent. it was a beautiful day and the presence of the delta queen just added to the ambiance.
we’re back from north carolina and we had a great time. biltmore was amazing, but the real spectacular scenes were on the blueridge parkway. i’m having a little trouble posting pix tonight, so these are the ones that my blog is accepting. there are more, if you are interested, on the flickr site. we were cruising with the top down and i became quite intrigued with taking pictures going into, through, and out of the tunnels. they are quite psychedelic. i heart my camera.
it’s been a great break, book-ended with the trips to the beach and the mountains, full of growing plants and growing grandchildren. i’m glad i can take time to just sit and enjoy. i’m feeling quite revived and ready to get back into the grind of 20-hour work-weeks. tee-hee. i heart my life.
