Merry Christmas! Peace! Love! God bless us every one.
icey icey….casey’s been out working all night, but this morning when i checked with him he said he’d been “backing down I-64″ for several miles trying to find a turn-around……seems while i slept they shut down the interstate. a semi jack-knifed and that caused traffic to back up for miles, meaning the salt trucks couldn’t spread any material meaning it’s a cluster-bleep. our brick sidewalks are solid ice, but the driveway looks passable.
my shopping was successful, especially for la and ali’s kiddos. when are we getting together?
after i get home and hubby’s had some sleep time we have to go to the funeral home. casey’s step-brother (?) david died on sunday (colon cancer metastacized to brain). he was a very kind man, smart and interesting. he’d been sick for a while, but had bravely fought on, only recently going with hospice. lots of reasons i hate funerals, but don’t we all? christmas seems to be a popular time to die in our family, so we just press on.
still not very picturesque outside, and funerals are hardly time for snapping pix, but i’ll try to spruce the place up a little very soon.
well, the kids at school are going to be really restless today, since they spent all day yesterday anticipating that school would be cancelled or at least delayed due to the impending snow/ice storm that did NOT happen. i admit, i’m a little disappointed myself that we’re not delaying, but really nothing happened, not even enough snow to make a pretty picture.
so after school today i’m headed out to do some serious christmas shopping: toys r us!! yayayay!
deck the halls….
i’ve got to show you some pictures of our bird christmas tree. we’ve put out several birdfeeders around a scotch pine, added a set of those lighted deer and the birds love it. last night 3 deer came up and spent quite a while checking out the moving head of the lit-deer before they raided a couple of the birdfeeders, munching away at the sunflower seeds while they kept a close eye on those other “deer”.
i’m truly turning into an old lady who just sits at the dining room table watching the critters. >sigh< oh, well. i can hardly wait for christmas!
