chive & thyme, 1 wk., originally uploaded by rightbug?.

it’s now official: we’ll be going to wdw over spring break, meeting up with the jose’s for fun and music! very excited….

yesterday was the solo & ensemble contest and i had a wonderful time. i ran into some of the kids from trinity (school) and it was such an ego-boost—we all hugged and i felt quite loved. unfortunately, i had not taken my camera!

i ran over to b&n during my first break and had brunch and used my 15% off coupon to buy the birnbaum wdw guide. second break i shopped for drapes at jc, then ran over to lowes to buy some more seed-starting supplies. while there i found some really good-looking drapes on sale and we got them hung in the TV room last night.

today all i’ve gotten done is seeds and cooking. the last 3 days have been officially bird-counting days for the great backyard birdcount. while i didn’t officially participate (just found out about it,) we did see a lot of birds at the feeders and hubby spend some time perfecting our squirrel-stoppers on the feeder poles. i need to study up some more on identifying the birds so i’ll be ready for next year.

i can’t decide what the theme of my bday party should be —-wtf is up with that? help me, folks. where’s a fun place to meet, or would you rather come here? it will be the weekend of 2/28-3/1, choose a day. help.

new rug, chairs, originally uploaded by rightbug?.

as we’ve been slogging through the weather, i have been re-redecorating in the office/den. oila! new chairs, new rug and a new subdued calm for the area in which i spend most of my time. we also bought a new 32-in flat-screen tv for in here and i love it, but feel slightly guilty that it’s not in the TV room, so that may change.

they’ve added back the snow days and have used up all the built-in days now, so any more missed days will be after memorial day. please, no. the kids are already ca-razy.

with that in mind, i have decided to go to disneyworld over spring break. emma is a wonderful age to enjoy the magic kingdom and the jr. caseys are also considering going with us. yay!

got my taxes done; house dusted; played the piano up at trinity saturday evening; started 4 dozen seeds: hyacinth bean vine, cilantro, african daisy, and coleus; sprinkled some chive and thyme seeds in some growing pots; transplanted the pothos i trimmed last month.

the solo & ensemble contests were rescheduled for 2/14, so this week i’ll be back over at ELS to practice — the french horn player decided not to compete and i think that is a very wise decision for her. also this week is the master gardener meeting that is centered on signing up for the various projects. we have joined up with the zoo folks to form a new group of gardening docents and i’d like to join that if it doesn’t take too much time. this year is the garden walk, so i’ll be signing on to work at one of those gardens.

i’m currently listening to lyle lovett, lyle lovett, and lyle lovett. faves:  I live in my own mind; my baby don’t tolerate; ain’t nothin’ but a good ride. obviously, i love this guy. oh, that’s another good song of his: i love everybody (especially you)…………………

the birthday festivities are still in the planning stages, but sister brought over the coolest book for an early b-day present:  Projects for the Birder’s Garden.  it is chock-full of ideas and info and husband and i are both enjoying it.  thanks, sis.  (the birds thank you, too)

delayed amaryllis, originally uploaded by rightbug?.

back to school this a.m. with a 2-hour-delay…..the groundhogs had to have been scared by their shadow here at sonnystone, as there is bountiful sunshine sending shadows to mingle with the glare from the snow. inside the big house, an amaryllis that i planted before christmas chose last week as its bloom-time. while i’m very relieved to be going back to work, i have this feeling that i’ve just had a great adventure and a sort of wistful sadness that it’s over. god bless the folks down in kentucky, they’ve got lots more to “weather”.

february is birthday month. there will be lots of activities. stay tuned.
