the flu is a fluke, kids. go back to class. i saw 54 kids yesterday, only 2 were flu-ish, but another 10 had mommies who came and whisked them away. fine.
i’ve got to go by walmart on the way to work to buy more cough drops. i need to purchase them by the ton. saltines, too.
keep that smile smiling, rockstar.
thanks always for inviting me to these little soirees. they always put a smile on my face. xoxo
things have settled down some at work—i only saw 35 kids yesterday, sent home 7. they are to the puking stage now, but that opens the door to many kids who are all too willing to stick their finger down their throat in order to get out of school. sad, but i don’t have time to do much about that, so i just send them on home.
to say that i’m glad this week is over is understatement. i’ve hardly noticed that many of my flowers (zinnias, geraniums, mums) are still merrily blooming and the potted herbs that i cut back are poking out new leaves. all i see is the gloom and wet, but plants are so easy-going. even the roses are still blooming despite that little frosty spell last week. i’m hoping to get outside this weekend to take some pictures and soak up some hardiness for my continued blooming. the 4H flea market is also this weekend, so i’ll be there.
it’s a tired, eyes-glazed-over smile i’m sending you….
i’m up-and-at-’em this morning after a very, very tedious day yesterday. i saw 50 kids, 50 sick kids and that’s not including the kids i give routine meds. or the adult who’d been having right arm/back pain for 3 days and needed me to check her blood pressure (it was high; she called her doc). that means i took 50 temperatures (12 were feverish), made 50 phone calls to parents to cover my ass, and documented it on paper and entered all into the computer. i was feeling pretty poorly myself by the end of the day, but a toddy always cures what ails me.
did i mention that i’m heading out to NYC 11/18 to visit with the jose’ family? we’ve got great seats for the rockettes christmas spectacular and i’ll get to see emma’s school teachers and dance instructors. what a great way to start off the christmas season!
i am sick of the flu…..here’s my best sick-of-it smile………
yay! 2 days in a row sunshine! i don’t care how cold it gets, just give me some beams!
my tv is going all digital on me, causing the faces of the talking heads to resemble the Wild Things. i’m considering that it might be a conspiracy since i breezed through foxnews and it seemed okay (they were of course spitting and cursing the president). maybe not, though, since the christian channel made joyce look like she’d just had an exorcism. i usually read the writer’s almanac poem to get my day started, but today they insist that i listen to it. we all know that garrison keillor’s voice would send me right back to bed, so i’ll have to wait till evening. so i’m left with my lonely routine: coffee, shower, make sandwich for lunch, off to work. i have to pick up a prescription (for a kid whose mom can’t be trusted) on the way, so i’d better get going.
the sun is sure to be still shining when i emerge from the school building this afternoon and i’ll be smiling like a happy face………….
winding down the week, i’ve got to prepare for the week-end visit of olivia and her parents. the 6th grade is going down to LBL and i need to get all of their meds ready at work.
i won’t even mention the weather as it soggies up my smile.
we had a great time in on our bourbon and horses tour. i don’t have time this morning for the distillery pictures, but check out this horsey. the woodford reserve distillery is actually on the grounds of a huge thoroughbred farm surrounded by other huge horse farms with familiar-sounding names. we stopped to take pictures and this fella or gal, was very friendly and posed for some pix.
i think he’s smiling…i know i am.
